Gogglebox stars The Malones eat at 'rudest restaurant in Manchester' and get full sweary treatment

They're everyone's favourite Manc Gogglebox family, but even the genial Malones were not spared the full-on sweary treatment at Greater Manchester's "rudest restaurant". The Malones headed to the most-talked about new restaurant opening of the year Karen's Diner - where guests get the "full Karen" treatment from rude staff.

And yes, Channel 4 stars The Malones were treated no differently. Sharing a video of their excruciating but hilarious experience on Instagram and TikTok from inside the Prestwich restaurant, fans were loving it.

Tom Malone Jr shared the video, taking his mum Julie and dad Tom Sr to the very bold new diner based on Prestwich 's Bury New Road. And dad Tom is shown looking at his son and saying: "Where have you brought me? The ***** this ****ing thing?" as the insults from waiting staff began to unfold.

In the video, their waitress is seen introducing herself in the forthright Karen's Diner way. She said: "Alright the Malone family. I know you're on telly and everything yeah but I'm not treating you any different, you're all s****".

Tom senior chuckled: "Thank you very much best compliment I've had all day." They are all seen wearing offensive slogan hats as they sat in the retro-styled diner which has been getting huge amounts of interest since launching in Prestwich last month.

Waiting staff sang a delightful version of Happy Birthday to Julie, adding plenty of swear words along the way. Even "hip hip hooray" was delivered with colourful language and offensive gestures.

Then Julie had to down one of the now famous Karen's shots out of a mini toilet cup. The waitresses sang a derogatory Julie song as she downed the shot, before making a comment too rude to print here, that even young Tom said "wow" to.

The official Karen's Diner page responded to the Malones' Instagram post with the hilarious riposte: "Don't come back unless you're bringing Dave with you". Much to the approval of fans.

While many followers of The Malones laughed at the post making comments like "brutal", the vast majority all now seem keen to go and get the Karen's treatment themselves. Everyone was tagging in their friends, including Jodie Chappo who said: "We need to go to Karen's" and ccsaddler added: "let's do this please".

Karen's Diner started out life in Australia, and prides itself on rude staff and terrible service. In return, customers are expected to "give it the full Karen", a nod to the modern slang re-interpretation of the name Karen as a self-entitled rude person.

It has now begun to open branches across the UK, with the Prestwich site opening in July with "huge demand" for tables. So much so, they've announced a big recruitment drive for more staff to join the venture here.

It boasts retro pink and pistachio interiors, while on the outside you will find an image of Noel Gallagher grimacing, with a ladies blonde streaked hairstyle fashioned to his head. Food is diner style so think huge burgers, fries and shakes.

The interactive dining experience encourages customers to ‘complain until the cows come home because we literally don’t care’. But weirdly given it's based around insults, diners here in Manchester are absolutely loving it.

Even Manchester Evening News food and drink writer Ben Arnold was won over despite his dread at trying out the concept. He tried out the surreal dining concept, and said the experience was “a lot, perhaps too much. But from dreading going to leaving wanting to tell everyone about it, that’s a pretty wild success”.
