Former Gogglebox stars George and Joe Baggs have landed a coveted DJ job at BBC Radio 1.
The brothers are set to join the station’s first-ever TikTok takeover on Christmas Day and will be on the BBC airwaves from 3.30pm.
According to the broadcaster, George, 20, and Joe, 25, are set to give “fans the opportunity to hear their favourite TikTok stars in a completely different light” as part of BBC’s initiative to search for fresh talent to helm their radio shows.
The station has turned to TikTok this festive season to scout 10 personalities from the worlds of comedy, entertainment and music, who listeners will hear from 2pm until 6pm on Christmas Day.
On TikTok, Joe currently has 1.4 million followers and has amassed over 87 million likes on his posts, which mainly consist of family-related content including pranks, dancing and miming videos.
George, meanwhile, has 1.1 million fans on the app, and has earned 41.4 million likes on his videos.
The announcement comes months after the Baggs family quit the Channel 4 show earlier this year.
The Essex-based brood joined the beloved series back in 2020 and filmed three series before announcing their exit due to work commitments.
They issued a joint statement on social media in May announcing their departure from the show and teased upcoming projects.
The statement read: “After 3 incredible seasons on Channel 4’s Gogglebox we have taken the decision to leave the show. We have loved every second of being part of the Gogglebox family and it’s truly been the opportunity of a lifetime.
“With lots of exciting opportunities approaching for us all, we just couldn’t commit to filming another series, but are so grateful for the opportunity.”
