Gogglebox stars Giles and Mary know exactly who they want to play them in a TV drama about their lives - presenters Richard and Judy. The couple discussed who would portray them as Friday's episode of the Channel 4 show saw the stars watching a bombshell episode of The Crown.
It featured the events surrounding Princess Diana's famous Panorama interview with former BBC journalist Martin Bashir. And in Wiltshire, it led to a rather meta discussion about who might play the TV pair on TV.
"Who would play us if we were being dramatized?", Mary asked Giles. "Richard and Judy, so Judy would play you and Richard would play me," he responded instantly.
"Yes, but they're not actors," she pointed out. "But you're right, they are quite like us."
The Crown was universally popular among the Gogglebox families, with Izzi in Leeds enthusing: "I'm hooked, obsesssed, cannot stop watching."
Sophie in Blackpool said: "It is mint though The Crown, even though it does touch a nerve watching it." Brother Pete agreed, saying: "It p***es you off and entertains you in equal measure but it's been a good watch....insightful."
In Brighton, Stephen told husband Daniel: "This season of The Crown has been the hardest watch for me because we remember it, it's living history isn't it." And he mused: "Imagine getting out of bed and what you're wearing that day is already prepared for you...I'd love that."
