Gogglebox star 'emotional' over Coronation Street death as fans switch off

Coronation Street viewers switched off after they couldn't cope with heartbreaking scenes in tonight's show.

Evelyn Plummer was devastated at the start of tonight's episode after her dog, Cerberus, had fallen ill. The character, played by Maureen Lipman, initially blamed Roy Cropper for her pet's illness.

Evelyn was convinced Roy was at fault for her dog's trip to the vet after he revealed Cerberus had accidentally eaten Eccles Cake from the floor of his cafe. However, the vet delivered the devastating news Evelyn's pet had been diagnosed with kidney failure.
