Gogglebox Sophie Sandiford's new life since losing job and bold career move

Gogglebox legend Sophie Sandiford has embarked on an exciting new chapter in her life since losing her job in retail.

The 24-year-old reality star is best known for making the nation laugh every Friday night on the Channel 4 show, alongside her older brother Pete, 26.

In recent weeks, Sophie has carved herself a new career as a florist - a completely different move to her former job at Debenhams.

The Northern duo provide a barrel of entertainment for viewers with their cheeky quips, but behind the smiles and cameras, Sophie's life took a tumble last year as she sadly lost her day job as a window dresser at the department store - due to the coronavirus pandemic.

She was made redundant as the department store chain collapsed and stores across the UK were forced to close.

During an appearance on Gogglebox not long before she was let go from her job, the happy-go-lucky TV star burst into tears as all non-essential shops were set to close at the time, due to a lockdown.

Panicking about the situation, Sophie feared for her job - which she still had at the time.

As her brother Pete asked what was classed as a 'non-essential shop', a tearful Sophie replied: "If you don't sell food, it's just like last time. So my work will shut."

She was seen being comforted by her older brother, who had noticed she'd been silently crying.

Returning to Debenhams for the last time after lockdown measures lifted, Sophie shared a snap with one of her colleagues, alongside a heartfelt caption.

She wrote: "We might be going but we are going with a smile," followed by a pink heart emoji and the hashtag #Debenhams.

Fast-forward to now, and life for Sophie is on the up, as she has taken the plunge and is pursuing a new career in floristry.

Overjoyed with the move, Sophie announced it on Gogglebox - telling her brother about her intense training course.

She revealed pink leather gardening gloves after Pete mistook them for golfing gloves.

Sophie explained: "They're not golfing gloves, they're [for] floristry.

"It's called conditioning the flowers – when you're pulling the leaves off – you need a bit of protection."

Sophie appears to be glowing at the moment, since taking on the bold move.

In a different episode, Sophie revealed some of her latest creations.

"I've been practising my flowers, do you want to see the bouquets I've made?" she asked Pete.

"Go on then, let's have a look," he replied, as Sophie warned him: "It's got eucalyptus in."

Sophie was seen relaxing on the sofa, with both bouquet boxes sat in front of her while Pete was notably missing.

He shrieked: "I've got eucalyptus in my eye! Why didn't you tell me not to rub my eyes?!"

"Obviously I'll have to put a little disclaimer on," Sophie sarcastically replied, as Pete said: "I'm suing."

"I'm gonna ruin your business now before it's even started darling!" he joked, as he returned with a rather puffy looking eye.

The TV personality lives with her brother in Blackpool, which means they have been able to film for Gogglebox during lockdown.

The two siblings initially lived with their parents in the first series, but it's unknown if they are still living with their parents, or if they have their own place.

Her brother Pete works in the insurance industry and is engaged to Paige Yeomans.

Meanwhile, Sophie is thought to be single.

*Gogglebox airs Fridays at 9pm on Channel 4.
