Gogglebox's Ellie Warner takes break from show as boyfriend Nat 'critical' in hospital

Gogglebox favourite Ellie Warner is set to take some time away from the show after her boyfriend was hospitalised last week. Ellie, who usually appears on the sofa-based show alongside her sister Izzi, is being supported by Gogglebox bosses during this turbulent time.

Ellie's boyfriend Nat Eddleston went out to meet friends at a pub in the Halton area of Leeds when he was struck by a car in the early hours of Saturday morning (March 19). It is believed that a white Seat Leon hit Nat, leading him to be taken to hospital while West Yorkshire Police cordoned off the road.

Earlier this week, police confirmed that Nat was in a 'critical but stable condition'. During the incident, he reportedly suffered from two collapsed lungs and a broken neck. Ellie, who is a hairdresser, will be stepping away from Gogglebox, a show she has been part of since 2015, to process last weekend's horrific events.

It is currently unknown whether Izzi will appear on the show at all this week. An insider told the Daily Star that the show's bosses are lending their support to Ellie, who is said to be scared that her partner may have brain damage, during this tough time.

They said: "Ellie has been told to take all the time she needs - everyone on the show is hoping and praying Nat will be okay."

Just last month, Ellie took to Instagram to declare her love for Nat. Holding a piece of kebab meat up next to Nat's head, Ellie wrote: "Happy Valentine's Day to my one true loves."

In 2020, Ellie's sister Izzi took a short break from Gogglebox as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. During her hiatus, Nat stepped in, and appeared alongside Ellie on the show.

West Yorkshire Police is asking anybody who might have information related to the incident to step forward. In a statement shared on social media, the police force said: "Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision in the Halton area of Leeds involving a white Seat Leon and an adult male pedestrian.

"Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision, which occurred on Selby Road near to The Woodman pub at around 00:10 this morning (Saturday 19th March 2022)."
