Gogglebox fans stunned as Sophie and Pete reveal they’re secretly related to the Chuckle Brothers

Gogglebox fans have been left wowed after it was revealed that fan favourites Sophie and Pete Sandiford are related to the Chuckle Brothers.

The Blackpool-based duo appeared in an old picture taken back in 2018.

It was posted by the legendary children's TV star Paul Elliott, aka Paul Chuckle, on his Twitter page.

The caption reads: "This day 2018 with my great niece and nephew.”

Paul starred on the much loved kids TV show Chucklevision with his late brother Barry from 1987 to 2009.

Fans reacted with shock on Twitter when Paul's tweet resurfaced thanks to a namesake, Paul Lang.

He said: "My world was rocked this week when I learned that Pete and Sophie Gogglebox are CHUCKLES."

And thousands of people flooded the replies and quote tweets.

One person said: "That’s news to me. To you. To me.

A second said: "MIND BLOWN. But also makes a whole load of sense

While a third laughed: "This is brilliant, they’re easily the best two on there as well, so funny the pair of them."

Many others called for a special appearance for Paul on the popular Channel 4 show in the future.

Sophie previously paid tribute to her beloved great uncle Barry after his death in August 2018.

She said: "A truly lovely and funny man to be around. You filled millions of childhoods with laughter and entertainment including mine and Peters. "You will be sadly missed by many. Rest in peace Uncle Barry. Lots of love from me, to you."

The Chuckle Brothers - real names Barry and Paul Elliott - were best known for their hit BBC children's show ChuckleVision, which ran from 1987 to 2009.

It featured catchphrases like 'To me, to you' and often focused on slapstick humour to reel in audiences.
