Gogglebox fans have pointed out a 'disgusting' detail in Giles and Mary's home - as the Channel 4 show returned today.
The show paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth tonight, as all of the Gogglebox stars remembered the late monarch and her long 70-year reign. As they watched the news announcements of the Queen's death, some broke down into tears as they recounted her long reign and wonderful service to the country and the Commonwealth.
However, some tuning into the show were distracted by a "dirty" detail in Giles and Mary's home as the pair gave their verdict on the emotional news. The pair have been Gogglebox favourites since they joined the show.
One fan penned on Twitter : "Channel 4 please stump up a few extra quid for Giles to buy a new chair," whilst another added a shocked face emoji as they gave their blistering verdict: "The state of Giles' chair."
A third wrote: "That chair's as dirty as sin," whilst a fourth noted: " #Gogglebox That chair could do with a good clean Giles."
Whilst Giles' chair captured the eye of viewers tonight, it's Mary's chair that is more famous amongst fans - as it perfectly matches the wallpaper behind them. It is something not lost on super fans of the show, who without fail mention the matching material and walls every single time the show is on air. "Giles and Mary make me crack up. Wallpaper matching the chair fabric #Gogglebox," one shared.
Gogglebox aired some emotional scenes tonight as they paid tribute to the monarch.
Mary was seen being reassured by her partner Giles as the National Anthem played, and Jenny was also in tears as she sat and watched on as BBC newsreader Huw Edwards revealed the sad news.
"She was so busy looking after us," Jenny said to her pal Lee as she cried, as she gave her verdict on King Charles III who became monarch following the passing of his mother, "Charles has to behave himself."
Various other members of the cast reminisced about old pictures of the Queen, while Mary commented that they "don't have a female role model anymore".
Emotional fans also took to Twitter to added: "Someone else posted: "The #Gogglebox-ers reaction to the Queen's death has me crying! Her death itself was a bit 'goodness' but no more than that. But the Goggleboxers have me all emosh!"
The show returned to screens last week, just a day after the Queen passed. Fans were grateful for a "little normality" following the death of Her Majesty and praised the show for airing as usual on the Friday evening.
