Couch potatoes celebrate Christmas like everyone else. And the Gogglebox Festive Special (Monday) gave us a window onto the favourites of Giles and Mary, Ellie and Izzi, Peter and Sophie and more over the festive season.
From watching popular Christmas specials like Britain Get Singing to getting tips from Jamie Oliver on making sprouts more exciting, there was plenty of Christmas cheer on the screen. And - with the added bonus of the Malones' carolling efforts - it was all very festive.
In fact, some viewers believed it was a little too festive - considering that it aired on January 2, 2023.
Melody Mills @MelodyMills_ felt like it was too late, tweeting: "Is there anything more depressing than #Gogglebox when they watch festive tv the night before everyone goes back to normal."
Meanwhile, Chloe Plummer @Chloe_Plummer_ was getting emotional about the timing: "As much as I love #gogglebox watching the festive special on 2nd January is so sad….Why did the Christmas break fly by?!"
Wando @Wandoful said it felt like the programmes being covered were screened a long time ago. He said: "The Goggleboxers watching The Traitors final and it feels like that happened so freaking long ago #TheTraitors #Gogglebox"
So why is the 'festive special' on when the Christmas break is all but over? Well, fans will recall that on December 25 at 9.05pm, the Gogglebox: Best of 2022 episode aired on Channel 4.
The episode looked back at the highlights of the show from the year - which was obviously deemed more of a must for 2022 than the actual Christmas special.
