Gogglebox was back on our screens tonight (Friday, March 11) and this time the families took aim at a business pitch that nearly went south on Dragons' Den. Chocolate company Russell & Atwell appeared on their show with the hope of gaining £90,000 for 9% of the business.
At first, the Gogglebox families were impressed by the high-end chocolate, made which comes in a range of varieties including creamy milk chocolate, salted caramel and creamy hazelnut. But they were slightly put off when they found out the chocs cost £19 a box.
The high price tag, however, didn't put off the dragons, with all five putting forward offers to invest in the business. But the offer was a bit too steep for the budding entrepreneurs as each dragon wanted to invest half of the money (£45,000) for 15% each.
It was a sticking point business owners Steve Russell and Giles Atwell couldn't quite stomach and they turned the offer down. But the dragons were so impressed by the business that the business gurus dropped their offer to 10% each.
The budding chocolate makers were still not quite ready and they tried to squeeze another percent out of each of the dragons. This was where things took a turn. Deborah Meaden took offence at the request and pulled out of the deal, sparking Peter Jones to also confess he was feeling uncomfortable.
The Gogglebox families loved the dram, with Amira branding Deborah Meadan a 'moody Margaret'. While the others watched on as horror as Russell & Atwell's deal started to come apart. The pair did manage to get things back on track and finally accepted an offer from Peter Jones and Steven Bartlett
All of the Gogglebox stars watching were relieved that the pair managed to walk away with their investment. But their rocky journey led to siblings Simon and Jane having some fun with a few chocolate-themed puns.
Simon said: "Quite a Curly Wurly route though wasn't it?"
To which Jane replied: "Twix and turned all the way."
Not to be outdone, Simon added: "Exactly. I'm wondering when they're going home on that Double Decker, whether they'll think that through again."
Jane quipped back: "They nearly Fudged it up."
But Simon had one last Chocolate pun up his sleeve. "Err... thing is they were strong they weren't Flakey," he said.
Jane, however, got the last words with: "Marathon men I'd say!"
