Gogglebox bosses sign up First Dates star Fred Sirieix and secret fiancee Fruitcake

Channel 4 has signed up Fred Sirieix and his fiancee Fruitcake for the next series of Celebrity Gogglebox.

The 50-year-old, who made his name as the charming French maitre d' on First Dates, will appear on the new series starting on June 10.

His fiancee often keeps out of the limelight, but she will be joining him on this occasion on the sofa.

He told The Sun that he was "delighted" to be on the show and that it was going to be "very surreal" as his own show had often appeared on Gogglebox.

Fred added: "I am looking forward to the public getting to meet the wonderful Fruitcake too.”

The maitre d'-turned-TV star has not spoken about his Jamaican girlfriend before, though he has shared photos of them both together on Instagram.

Fred shares two children with his ex Alex, who he dated for 12 years.

Their names are the final ones added to the Celebrity Gogglebox line-up, which has seen some changes this year.

Denise Van Outen will be joined by pal Duncan James, replacing her ex Eddie Boxhall.

While Anne Marie will be appearing with her new partner after sitting next to Ed Sheeran and Sir Tom Jones.

Others taking part in the celebrity series includes Strictly winners Oti Mabuse and Bill Bailey, Nick and Liv Grimshaw, Rylan and Linda Clark and Melanie C and her brother Paul.

It comes after the Baggs family announced that they had quit Gogglebox after three series.

The family from Essex, who first appeared on the Channel 4 show in 2020, have decided to end their run as TV critics due to work commitments.

Dad Terry, mum Lisa and sons Joe and George issued a joint statement, teasing future projects, to announce their departure from the hit show.

The statement read: "After 3 incredible seasons on Channel 4’s Gogglebox we have taken the decision to leave the show. We have loved every second of being part of the Gogglebox family and it’s truly been the opportunity of a lifetime.

"With lots of exciting opportunities approaching for us all, we just couldn’t commit to filming another series, but are so grateful for the opportunity."
