Pals of a young man who was stabbed to death in a hostel in central Dublin are rallying around his family to raise funds for his funeral expenses.
Jamie Kavanagh, 24, was stabbed repeatedly in an incident at a homeless hostel on Harrington Street in the south inner city in the early hours of Wednesday.
Gardai responded to a report of a man with serious injuries following an alleged assault at the premises at 4.45am.

Jamie, who had separate accommodation in the same building and from the Clondalkin area was taken to St James’s Hospital but later died from his injuries.
Robert Murphy, 40, originally from West Dublin, was charged on Thursday with the murder of Mr Kavanagh and appeared before Judge John Hughes at Dublin District Court. He has been remanded in custody to appear before Cloverhill District Court next week.
A cousin of Jamie’s dad David, Orla Jones has now set up a special GoFundMe page entitled ‘In Memory of Jamie Kavanagh RIP’ to help raise funds to help with his funeral expenses.
"Jamie was 24 years old when he tragically lost his life on April 19. He was staying in a hostel in Dublin 8," Orla wrote on the fundraising page. "His family are shocked and heartbroken by his death.
"No parent expects to bury their child, but to have your child taken from you in such tragic circumstances is unimaginable."
"I am a cousin of Jamie’s dad David and I am hoping to raise funds to help with the funeral expenses. Any donations would be much appreciated to help them at this difficult time," Orla continued.
In support of the fundraiser page one person wrote: "Thinking of the heartbroken family of this young man and wishing them love and light at this most difficult time."
Funeral arrangements for Jamie have yet to be announced.
