You’ll receive The Weight of Chains quest in God of War Ragnarök while on your journey to find the key on the island as soon as you arrive and dock your boat there. You’ll be able to clear away the gilded metal with the nearby explosive pot which will spawn a bunch of wretches. Get killing, but make sure you keep pushing forwards, as there’s a nest at the top of the slope that keeps spawning them. Destroy it.
Behind the nest is a platform you can climb up. On the far left corner, there’s more debris with explosives next to it. Clearing it gives you access to a path you can climb up on the other side. After clearing out another wretch nest, there’s a gate you can open that will give you a shortcut should you ever need to return.
From there, you’ll find a wheel that lowers an elevator which you can freeze in place by throwing your ax at the exposed gear. This will give you a new path to follow along the climbing route, as you can now head to the right.
This will put you onto the frozen elevator, so recall your ax to send it up. A prompt will then appear to smash through the ground using Circle. Killing the enemy down here will give you the Watchtower key. Take this to the tower above Sindir’s shop right in the middle of the bay. The door will swing open, letting interact with the drum that reveals a hidden location: Lyngbakr Island
Return to the creature
The creature will now have risen from the bay, and you need to sail over it. You can dock and take out the enemies on top. There’s more debris with convenient explosives next to it on the south side, so clear that away and cut through the chain. You can then clear another path by throwing your axe at the connection point on the creature’s fin.
Hop over to this new path you’ve created and go right. After a quick fight, you can climb up a chain where a lore marker waits at the top. Turn left from the marker and grapple over the gap where you’ll find a chest and some more enemies. Once they’re dealt with, kick the chain down and get down onto the north side of the creature where you should cut through more chains and free the fin to reveal a wretch nest you must clear.
Grab a fire bomb from the dispenser behind the nest and clear the rubble next to the anchor where you’ll find a chest as well as a dock below that’s blocked by debris. Grab another fire bomb and clear it out and open the door near the dispenser to get a shortcut.
Before you head back to the dock though, grab yet another fire bomb and head west where you can clear more rubble containing more chests. One will be behind the rubble, but there is another behind a crawl space on the north wall. You’ll also find one of Odin’s Ravens in this area.
You can now get back down to the dock and free the beast’s tail.
