It’s no small feat to find the best armor in God of War Ragnarök, but we’ve got just the scoop on how to get your hands on it. While the Steinbjorn Armor set may not offer some of the boons other great armor sets do, if you’re looking purely for the most protection possible, this set is worth the effort of seeking it out, and we’ll tell you how.
God of War Ragnarok: Mystical Heirloom
Later on in the game, you’ll get your hands on a relic called the Mystical Heirloom. It’s description reads: “Awakens something dormant, deep down inside of the bearer. It seems important, but doesn’t seem to have any practical application in combat.”
The clues for this are in the lore, as you’ll learn that the various troll statues you can find dotted around the place are actually sleeping trolls under a spell. You need to wake them up using the Mystical Heirloom.
God of War Ragnarok: Slumber Stone
The trolls won’t much appreciate being woken up, so you’ll be in for a fairly tough fight. However, once you’ve taken them down you’ll get a Slumber Stone, which you can use to craft the Steinbjorn Armor.
God of War Ragnarok: Sleeping troll locations
You can find slumbering trolls in the following places:
- The southwest corner of The Forbidden Sands.
- Noatun’s Garden.
- The Derelict Outpost in the Lake of the Nine.
Once you’ve beaten the trolls in all three locations you’ll be able to craft the Steinbjorn Gauntlets, the Steinbjorn Waistguard, and the Steinbjorn Plackart.
God of War Ragnarok: Steinbjorn Armor
Once you’ve got them fully upgraded, there is no armor set that offers more protection.
The Steinbjorn Plackart gives you 190 Defence and triggers healing on any attack made when you’re close to death.
The Steinbjorn Gauntlets give you 85 Defence on top of 34 Strength, along with a modern stun chance on any enemy who hits you.
Finally, The Steinbjorn Waist Guard gives 119 Defence and buffs the stun chance on the Gauntlets.
