Pre-match nerves meant she had a sleepless night before Sunday’s friendly with the Philippines, but Lily Agg was in dreamland when she capped her debut with the winning goal.
The London City Lionesses midfielder slotted the ball home after a Stephanie Roche shot was deflected into her path.
Agg is in Antalya with the rest of Vera Pauw’s squad as they continue their preparations for next Monday’s World Cup qualifier against Georgia.
Asked about her debut, she replied: “I’m absolutely delighted. It’s what dreams are made of.
“I didn’t really dream the night before, I didn’t get much sleep, I was absolutely buzzing and a little bit nervous. But I was delighted to make my debut.
“I thought it was a really good game. Vera has mentioned a lot about finding rhythm and getting a flow of things.
“The girls have made me feel really welcome and I really enjoyed being out there and getting touches on the ball.
“[Scoring the winner] is something you dream of and I am absolutely delighted.”
The training camp in Turkey is giving the Irish players a taste of what to expect when they take on Georgia in Gori next week.
Despite the long-range forecast predicting thunderstorms around kick-off next Monday, temperatures are expected to be in their high-20s.
“Factor 50 is my best friend at the minute,” said Agg. “It’s very hot out there, but we have got our electrolytes and the staff are looking after us really well.
“It’s been really good so far. As Vera mentioned, we’ve found a lot of rhythm, training has been going really well.
“The girls are looking really sharp, everyone is excited and we are working as hard as we can and hopefully we can get three points.”
