MARGAO: A delegation of Goa Forward Party (GFP) led by its president Vijai Sardesai on Tuesday met Goa governor P S S Pillai and demanded that the state BJP government be dismissed and President’s rule imposed
Sardesai told reporters that the “serious accusations” of corruption made by Malik had put a blot on Goa’s image. “We have demanded that the immoral, unethical government be immediately dismissed, President’s rule imposed, and a high-level inquiry headed by a retired Supreme Court judge be set up by the government of India. If they don’t do it, we will file an FIR against the government,” Sardesai said.
Stating that GFP has been exposing corruption in the government during the pandemic, Sardesai said they exhausted all constitutional provisions and legal remedies.
“Three of us were removed from the cabinet because we were seen as obstacles in the path of the chief minister in making corruption in anything and everything. And when the governor tried to stop corruption, he was removed from the post. It has now been the thumb rule that whoever tries to expose the government gets removed,” he said.
He urged the Centre to act against the government. “Else people will lose faith in the country’s constitution and democracy,” Sardesai said.
