PORVORIM: Cortalim independent MLA Antonio Vas arrived on a two-wheeler for the oath of affirmation on Tuesday, much to the surprise of security personnel and others gathered at the Goa legislative assembly complex. Vas, who owns a car, said he prefers to travel on a two-wheeler because traffic jams are a common occurrence in his constituency.
“I always use the bike. There are a lot of traffic jams and sometimes there is an emergency, so I made it a habit to travel on the bike,” said Vas.
The crucial Cortalim-Agasaim junction has witnessed several traffic jams, with traffic backed up for miles on a daily basis. Work on the Zuari cable-stayed bridge has affected the flow of traffic.
“I will come for the assembly sessions by bike unless it is an emergency. Because of the work, there are jams, but once the work is over, it will be clear,” said Vas.
