A West Lothian dad is the envy of superhero and sci-fi fans everywhere thanks to his impressive collection of movie memorabilia.
What started as a unique gift from his wife has led to an obsession that’s thousands of pounds in the making for dad-of-two Richie Heaney.
He has amassed an amazing collection of Marvel, DC and Star Wars figures that take pride of place in his West Lothian home.
He reckons the figures are worth £16,000 – and his kids know that they are not for playing with!
Richie, a software developer, showed off his impressive display to
the Courier, saying that he has always been a bit of a collector and a massive fan of superheroes, Star Wars and everything in between.
He explained: “I have been collecting for about four years now.
“The whole collection is probably worth in the region of about £16,000, which does scream out loud that I’ve spent a heck of a lot of money!
“The average price of one is around about £200 and some are more expensive than others.
“I had always collected smaller figures and then I saw that there were 1:6 figures, but they were more expensive, obviously!
“My wife Debbie actually bought the first figure for my Christmas and she found a good deal from Forbidden Planet and then it escalated from there!”
Richie went on: “To date I have 87 figures in my collection. No doubt I’ll buy more in the future too. Everyone is impressed when they see them.
“The main comments are around how life-like they look and that I should make it into some sort of museum.”
Richie, who has two kids, Lee (13) and Maddison (11), says that his collection features a massive range of characters, from Iron Man and Thor to Transformers, Luke Skywalker and Stormtroopers.
And he said that his kids both know that dad’s toys are for looking at only and that they are not to be played with.
He added: “To be fair, they’re really good with the collection.
“They know that they can’t go near it and they respect the rules in that regard.”
