Good Morning Britain viewers were left utterly heartbroken as actor Chris Ellison appeared on the show to discuss his struggle with aphasia.
The 75-year-old - who is best known for his legendary role as DCI Frank Burnside in The Bill - spoke to hosts Kate Garraway and Richard Madeley alongside wife Anita.
Chris decided to reveal his condition after Hollywood star Bruce Willis recently said that he had the condition.
He was diagnosed with the disorder aphasia – which causes sufferers to lose their ability to speak or communicate – after he suffered a stroke in 2020.
Last Wednesday, family members close to 67-year-old action star Bruce revealed that he was being forced to retire from his acting work after being diagnosed with the condition.
Richard began the interview by saying: "Chris, I know that you're happy to try and answer some questions with quite simple 'yes or no' answers. Good, let's give that a go - since the decision to go public at the weekend, do you feel better about yourself?"
"Well, I don't know," Chris replied, but struggled to say the rest of his sentence, prompting his wife to step in.
Anita said: "If I can answer for you, if you don't mind me answering for you, for me, I've seen a great change in Chris. He was immediately lifted, because I explained what was going on."
Reacting on Twitter, viewers were saddened to see Chris' frustration with his condition, but hailed his as "brave" to speak out and help others with the condition.
One tweeted: "How sad to see Chris like this , such a great tbh star #GMB."
While another commented: "#GMB the frustration he must feel for not being able to communicate."
A third wrote: "Heartbreaking to see chris like this, brilliant actor loved him in The Bill #GMB."
"So very sad to see Chris like this, a brilliant actor. So brave to speak out and hopefully help others," another commented.
Another tweeted: "#GMB you are a brave man mr Ellison ....stand proud mate, get out give it that burnside swagger and say b******s to what people think...you still you sir...#chrisellison #asphasia."
"His wife is so wrote, it must be hard for her having to explain to people he does understand but just can’t answer #GMB," one tweeted.
