GMB viewers brand Richard Madeley an 'idiot' over rail strike comments

Richard Madeley has once again come under fire from Good Morning Britain viewers, this time for his opinions on the huge rail strike that is set to hit commuters later this month. The former I'm A Celebrity campmate was back on the show co-hosting with Susanna Reid.

It has been confirmed that members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union on Network Rail and 13 train operators will walk out on June 21, 23 and 25, while London Underground workers will strike on June 21, in separate disputes over pay, jobs and pensions. Richard shared his views on the walk out on Wednesday's edition of the breakfast show.

Richard has claimed that striking would be "holding the public hostage" reports Birmingham Live. He said: "You're not really actually affecting your bosses, you're already affecting men and women who won't be able to get to work, won't be able to go on holiday..."

Edna said: "You argued against the treatment of P&O employees when they were arbitrarily sacked. Rail employees are facing the same.

"Richard Madeley is happy to accept that sitting in his ivory tower. Where is the balance of this interview. . .a govt minister & employer.."

Linda fumed: "Richard Madeley idiot I worked for train company before retired and you don't know how they treated their staff." Sue Crowther said: "I think you mean ‘ransom’, Richard and of course they are.

"That’s the point. How else are they supposed to be heard with a Government like this one and no democratic channels left? #gmb"

Good Morning Britain continues weekdays at 6am on ITV One and the ITV Hub.
