GMB viewers accuse Liz Truss of 'laughing' as Richard Madeley grills her

Good Morning Britain viewers were not impressed with Liz Truss' appearance on the ITV breakfast show on Wednesday.

The Foreign Secretary was grilled by host Richard Madeley on the cost of living crisis as well as British-US national Morad Tahbaz who is being detained in Iran.

Asked about Mr Tahbaz, the politician said: "It is a very very difficult situation and my heart goes out to Morad and his family."

Referring to Roxanne Tahbaz, who was on GMB earlier in the show, Richard told Ms Truss: "You made her a promise!"

Ms Truss argued: "What I said to her and the family is that we would secure his release to his home in Iran..."

Changing the topic to the rise in inflation, Richard and Susanna asked her about what the Chancellor is doing to tackle the problem.

"Well I know the Chancellor is working very hard on what more we can do to support," she said as Susanna butted in: "Well you'd hope so!"

Laughing, Ms Truss continued: "I can't make his announcements for him before he's ready to announce them."

But some viewers were unimpressed with the Tory MP's light-hearted reaction to some of Richard's questions as the father-of-two became quite frustrated with her responses.

Taking to Twitter, one person wrote: "Glad you find it so funny Liz #GMB."

Another said: "that’s right Truss … have a giggle , it’s very funny after all …"

And a third viewer asked: "@GMB Why is Liz Truss laughing when you tell her people need help now? #GMB #OutOfTouch."

A fourth person fumed: "Why is Liz Truss laughing & smirking when being challenged about such a serious agenda? The cost of living crisis is a very real issue and it’s making me so angry because they aren’t doing anything! They keep talking about what they’ve ‘done’ but it’s not enough #gmb."

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV and ITV Hub.
