GMB's Susanna Reid unimpressed as Richard Madeley brands ITV's Love Island 'over'

Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid was left looking unimpressed as co-host Richard Madeley branded Love Island “over”.

The ITV presenting duo returned on Monday after the long four-day weekend to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

But as Susanna shared an exciting update on the hit reality show for ITV viewers, Richard made a scathingly critical comment on the ITV smash hit show.

Susanna teased an interview with show host Laura Whitmore later in the programme, as Love Island hits screens once again on Monday evening for a summer of fun and flirting in Spain.

But after Susanna had shared her own excitement at the show returning once again, Richard looked dubious as he sat beside her.

Before the programme went to ad ad break, he scathingly said of Love Island: “It's over. Surely, we've had enough.”

Susanna managed to keep her mouth shut in response, but looked unimpressed at Richard’s comments.

This comes after Susanna Reid was forced to step in on Good Morning Britain last week as Richard Madeley made a blunder.

Less than an hour into the programme, Susanna had to stop Richard from speaking as he made an error whilst hosting the morning show.

The pair were just introducing their chat with Labour MP Kim Leadbeater about her documentary on the threats received by MPs after her sister Jo Cox was murdered in a horrifying attack as she made her way to meet her constituents in Yorkshire.

Richard went to welcome Kim – who was appearing via Zoom – to the show but Susanna had to quickly step in, reminding him that they had a clip from the documentary to watch first before talking to her.

"Kim is taking part in a documentary that airs later tonight where MPs discuss the very real dangers of what they face and even the number of people now in prison because of the threats. And now Kim joins us from," he began as Susanna interrupted to add: "No, let's just have a look, let's have a look."

Appearing to be embarrassed, he then said: "Ah yes let's have a look at the doco."

It comes after Richard admitted he is unsure about his future on Good Morning Britain.

Speaking on Kate Thornton's podcast White Wine Question Time recently, he said: "But in terms of what I do on my own, which at the moment is Good Morning Britain, although who knows how long that'll go on for.

"I'm doing it month to month at the moment and I'm very happy to. I quite like operating at that level, I've had my main career curve. I'm not seeking some huge career arc, we'll see what happens. But I enjoy it, I enjoy doing it."

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
