GMB's Susanna Reid sends 'emotional' message to Kate Garraway after Sir Elton John tribute

An Elton John tribute to Kate Garraway and her husband Derek Draper was a talking point on ITV's Good Morning Britain. Kate, a known fan of the popular singer, was at a gig at London's O2 Arena on Monday evening (April 17).

The Liverpool Echo reports Sir Elton spotted Kate and Derek in the crowd and then dedicated his hit song, Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me, to them.

Sir Elton, who is embarking on his farewell tour, and who is also one of the Glastonbury headliners in the summer, told the audience: "They’re inspiring. They’ve never given up and I’m so thrilled they’re here, I can’t believe they are here.” Derek fell critically ill after contracting the coronavirus in 2020 and Kate has helped care for the former political lobbyist throughout this ongoing health battle.

And the moment during the concert was highlighted during Tuesday's (April 18) Good Morning Britain, which was hosted by Susanna Reid and Ed Balls, with the two of them joined by showbiz reporter Richard Arnold.

Susanna was wowed by the moment as she said: "That is so emotional, what a superstar. As are you Kate and Derek." Kate has previously revealed on Good Morning Britain how Sir Elton offered his support after Derek fell seriously ill.

She said: "Elton John contacted me. It was so strange. I was like, ‘Elton… John?’ We do have a mutual friend, which I didn’t know about. And because of all the work he does with the Aids Foundation he was like, ‘What can I do to help? I know a bit about antiviral stuff. And I’m on board. I’ll try to help. He’s incredible.”
