GMB's Susanna Reid reacts with horror to guest's harrowing tale as CCTV shows terrifying incident

Susanna Reid reacted with horror at a Good Morning Britain guest's harrowing recollection of how she feared her son's life was in danger, after he feel into a sewage drain.

The ITV show's main host was back behind the desk alongside Richard Madeley, a day after both of them had reacted angrily to the damning photo of Boris Johnson at a Downing Street party, with Susanna reading out a letter from a care home worker viewers left furious by the picture. The presenting duo were joined live in the studio by mum Amy and toddler Theo, with Amy explaining that a walk to Theo's dad house went horribly wrong when the little boy fell down a manhole.

Recalling the horrifying incident, Amy explained: "We were walking from my mum's house to the car. I was walking along the path and Theo was holding my hand at the start. After he let go of my hand he ran towards the drain. My gut instinct told me 'I need to run, I need to run.'"

As Amy spoke the frightening video of Theo disappearing down the drain played out on screen. Amy continued: "He fell through the hole and the drain just closed completely on top of him. I couldn't hear him, I didn't even know if my baby was going to be dead. The hole was so tiny. I just jumped into the hole and..."

Richard asked Amy where Theo was in the hole, to which she replied: "He was at the bottom standing in sewage up to his knees. He was screaming my name, absolutely screaming my name," as Susanna responded: "Oh! Poor little thing!"

Amy added: "The hole was so tight, I couldn't bend my body forward to grab him," as Richard told her: "It's a good job it wasn't raining!" Thankfully Amy managed to get Theo out and he escaped uninjured, with the little one seeing having lots of fun in the GMB studio as his mum spoke to the presenters.
