GMB's Susanna Reid forced to change outfit after fears it was too 'racy' for morning TV

Susanna Reid was forced to change her outfit mid-show on Good Morning Britain today amid fears it was too racy.

The TV presenter fronted Wednesday's episode of the ITV morning show alongside her co-star Ed Balls, where she revealed she was originally wearing a pink outfit, but was forced to change when bosses compared her to the block of flats in the graphic behind them.

As she discussed the outfit change, she revealed she swapped into the red outfit she's wearing now but feared it was too 'gaping' for the ITV breakfast show and panicked to get it pinned whilst she was off screen - but still speaking.

As she read the news, Susanna had her dress held together as it was pinned at the back whilst someone from the team sewed some detail on the front to bring the neckline into a position she said was more suitable for morning TV.

Susanna joked she didn't want to do an Aubrey Plaza, who grabbed headlines when she rocked up to the Screen Actors Guild Awards in a daring gold gown on Sunday night. The dress featured a huge cut out at the front which revealed her toned midriff and criss-cross halter neckline and she received mixed responses to her risqué outfit.

Earlier today, she said: "Oh yeah, I had a bit of an outfit, wardrobe crisis this morning. I put an outfit on that seemed to blend into the background, so the director with two minutes to spare said, 'Is there anything else in your wardrobe?'

"So, at two minutes to six, nipped into the wardrobe, found this, didn’t realise it needed a bit more buttoning up. It was a last minute cover-up job!" as she revealed all about what happened this morning.

Her co-star Ed added: "I’ve never ever read a news headline from the autocue while simultaneously trying to unzip you from the back!"

Susanna previously opened up about how she struggles to "switch off" after presenting the news every day.

"My mornings are intense with the adrenaline of live news, so switching off is hard," she said, "I’m perfectly happy with my own company — I talk to people all day, I have a terrific team and I love my close-knit family.

"When the boys leave home, I know that's going to be challenging. In the evening I like gentle TV, nothing gruesome. A bath is a must, it completely de-stresses me. On a good night I switch the lights off at 10pm and I'm asleep within minutes."
