In a heart-breaking moment, ITV Good Morning Britain's Martin Lewis's emotions got the better of him as he shared a personal detail about his life during the show. Taking a moment to compose himself, he temporarily left his co-host alone after becoming overwhelmed.
Joining Susanna Reid to present coverage of Queen Elizabeth II's death on Wednesday, September 15, the Money Saving Expert had been speaking about Prince William and Harry walking behind Princess Diana’s coffin at her funeral. He said: “I wasn't going to say this on air but it resonates with me very powerfully for someone who lost his mother at the same age as Harry in a road accident.
"I find it very difficult to watch. Thank goodness I wasn't forced to walk behind. I didn't even go. It does bring back some..." Martin broke off before Susanna stepped in as he held back tears. “You carry on,” he said. “We’ll move on.”

“I know Martin,” a sympathetic Susanna added. “When events like this happen that are so public, they are very triggering of private grief and we totally understand.”
Martin’s mother was killed by a lorry while horse riding with Martin’s sister in 1984, according to The Express. The publication spotted the heart-wrenching moment on the show and said that less than an hour later, Martin left his co-host to present alone before re-joining her in the studio. Adding that before an advert break, Lewis could be seen getting up and walking away from the desk. When the show returned, the seat next to Susanna was empty.
The camera zoomed into the host as Martin returned to his chair ready for an interview with Salam Shafi, the deputy chief executive of financial advice charity Money Buddies.
