Kate Garraway has been forced to miss Good Morning Britain for the second week in a row after husband Derek Draper took a 'turn for the worse' last week, with fans rushing to offer their support.
TV favourite Kate was told that other half Derek was the 'worst affected' Covid survivor in the UK after his lengthy battle with the virus at the height of lockdown in 2020. After contracting really bad symptoms, Derek went into hospital and was then placed in a medically induced coma as his condition deteriorated.
As the former political aide remained in a grave state, wife Kate and children Billy and Darcy were unable to see him for months, due to strict restrictions in place at the time. Derek was finally allowed ro return home in spring 2021 but, speaking at the time, Kate admitted there was an 'uncertain road ahead.'

And last week it was revealed that Derek was back in hospital, with a source telling The Sun: "Derek has been taken back to hospital this morning in a very serious condition. The family are very worried about him but Derek is in the best hands."
Kate missed both GMB and her Smooth Radio show as she stayed by Derek's bedside, with her ITV colleagues Ben Shephard and Charlotte Hawkins wishing her well and assuring viewers they'd pass on their kind words to Kate.
Now it's being reported that Kate has extended her absence, with an rep for ITV telling the Evening Standard: "Kate is taking some time off work over the next few days, and is hoping to be back to her normal presenting duties as soon as possible.”
After the news broke, fans took to social media with well wishes for Kate, with one tweeting: "sending love and support to you and Derek and the whole family at this time. You guys have really been through it." A second wrote: "my prayers are with you and your amazing kids kate , more so for you and derek ,stay strong ,happy thoughts and keep your chin up , one amazing woman and mother."
