GMB's Kate Garraway and Ranvir Singh championed by viewers as 'MP slayers' after stroppy exit

Good Morning Britain viewers have championed hosts Kate Garraway and Ranvir Singh as 'MP slayers' after Robert Buckland stropped off the show on Friday.

The Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice joined Ranvir and Friday co-host Kate via video call to discuss the growing confusion over Brits visiting countries on the amber list.

Kate and Ranvir tried to get firm answers from Buckland on why there is an amber list, with Ranvir ranting: "I really struggle to understand the point of it - why not just have a green list and a red list? So people know go or don't go."

She added: "What is the point of dangling this carrot of countries that might or might not be green in two weeks time.

Buckland said the list was there "for essential travel" like business or people needing to visit seriously ill relatives but Kate pressed him for clarity for the many Brits who stand to lose money over pre-booked holidays.

Dismissive of his responses, Ranvir told him: "we have asked you several times to explain the relevance of the amber list and people at come can decide whether they are satisfied with your answers."

Taking exception at the way he'd been treated, Buckland retaliated: "Well if I could get a word in edge ways I would have given answers...thanks," before standing up and walking out of shot," as Kate reacted: "he's off!"

While Buckland was far from impressed, viewers certainly were, with one taking to Twitter to write: "You have to admire Ranvir Singh. Journalist, TV presenter, Strictly dancer and this morning Tory MP slayer, ably assisted by Kate Garraway."

Another reacted: "Would someone from #GMB kindly go and untie Robert Buckland as Kate & Ranvir had him tied in knots," and a third posted: "Loving Ranvir & Kate giving the non sensical Buckland a proper rinsing this morning."
