Ben Shepherd got very frustrated with Kate Garraway as he tried to explain the offside rule to her this morning.
The Good Morning Britain presenters were catching up with the Mirror's Darren Lewis about all things football when Ben, 47, mansplained a few things about the beautiful game to his co-host.
Kate was even told to 'be quiet' at one point by Ben, as he tried to explain the offside rule to her during a chat with Darren about recent World Cup 2022 games and upcoming matches.
After a dramatic night of football over in Qatar last night, with Germany and Belgium crashing out of the group stages, there was plenty to discuss on ITV's flagship breakfast show this morning.
A controversial goal from Japan during their clash with Germany last night was the reason the European country saw their 2022 World Cup campaign come to an end - with many football fans thinking the goal should have actually been ruled offside.
As presenting duo Ben and Kate caught up with the Mirror's journalist and discussed the 'offside' goal and England's chances of winning the tournament later this month, Ben took it upon himself to explain the offside rule to Kate with the help of a roll of gaffer tape.
The presenter attempted to educated his co-host about the tricky football law, and even ended up telling Kate to 'be quiet for a second' at one point and even jokingly told her he would 'gaffer tape' her mouth closed.
"Nobody told me that," Kate jokingly replied as she folded her arms after Ben told her to be quiet.
Although the pair laughed as Ben mansplained things to Kate, some ITV viewers took to social media after the exchange to slam the male presenter for being sexist.
"Ben Shephard you need to apologise for being rude to Kate telling her to be quiet and calling her woman ! who do you think you are," one Good Morning Britain viewer fumed on Twitter.
Another angrily wrote: "disgusting disrespect from Ben this morning towards Kate not only is he interrupting her many times, he’s being disrespectful and sexist “Move your paperwork Woman!! he said #Disgusted."
However, some enjoyed the light-hearted exchange between the two presenters.
"Ben telling Kate to shut up has made my morning [laughing-face emoji]," one began their tweet earlier this morning. "They are hilarious! Love them both [love-heart emoji] #gmb @benshephard @kategarraway."
Another bluntly added: "Ben Shepherd please gaffer tape Kate Garraway."
