Good Morning Britain host Ben Shephard gasped on Friday morning as he heard the news that Ronan Keating has become a grandfather after his son Jack welcomed a newborn.
Love Island star Jack, 23, made the surprise announcement on his Instagram on Thursday evening as he shared a snap holding his newborn baby daughter.
The former Casa Amor bombshell wrote: “Welcome to the world my little Princess”.
It is the first grandchild for father-of-five Ronan, 46, who shot to fame as a member of boy band Boyzone.
Good Morning Britain’s entertainment reporter Richard Arnold detailed the news in the ITV studio, as he sat down with co-hosts Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway.
He said: “Congratulations are in order for the Keatings. Ronan has become a grandfather for the first time at the tender age of just 46.”
The news prompted Ben next to him to gasp: “Wow!” as Kate exclaimed: “He still looks about 12.”
Richard agreed, as he continued: “Remember that Jack was a former Love Islander in Casa Amor back in 2022, just eight months ago.
“Failed to find love and make it into the main villa. Ronan has five children of course, so a fertile family.”
The Irish singer shares eldest child Jack with his ex-wife, Yvonne Connolly, 48, who's also a mum to Missy, 22, and Ali, 17, from the couple's 12-year marriage.
Jack looked every inch the doting dad in the happy snaps announcing the birth of his first child, as he looked down adoringly at the little one cradled in his arms.
His pals and other Love Island stars were quick to congratulate him, as Paige Thorne wrote: “Congratulations hunny!!”
Other well-wishes were fellow Love Island co-stars, including Luca Bish and Danica Taylor.
Ronan's second wife and Jack's stepmother Storm replied with a series of heart emojis under the post, while Jack’s mother Yvonne wrote: “I miss her so much already.”
The Magic Radio Breakfast host has been with wife, Australian fashion designer, Storm, 40, since 2010 and the pair have children Cooper, five, and Coco, two, together.
Jack has not yet confirmed the identity of his daughter’s mother, but he joined the IV2 reality show in July, arriving at the Casa Amor stage, but went home quickly, after he did not couple up with any islanders at the original villa.
Appearing on the show in July, Jack revealed the identity of his father after a conversation with co-star Gemma Owen, the daughter of football star Michael Owen.
The pair bonded over their famous fathers, with Jack revealing his ‘old man’ was the Boyzone star.
