GMB's Ben Shephard complains he's getting 'grief' while Richard Arnold takes swipe at Ranvir Singh

Ben Shephard was left complaining as he made his return to Good Morning Britain. The presenter hasn't been seen on the ITV news programme for a couple of weeks.

He was back on the programme on Thursday (April 28) alongside Ranvir Singh, who appears to have stepped in for usual co-host Kate Garraway. But GMB viewers may have been surprised as Ben, 47, didn't get the warmest of welcomes from Ranvir, 44, as she kicked off the show by commenting on her colleague's appearance.

As Ben welcomed viewers to the latest show, Ranvir turned to him and said: "Welcome back... you've been away haven't you?" to which Ben replied: "Thank you very much. A couple of weeks I have been away but not feet up having a lovely time away."

Ranvir then remarked: "I was going to say you don't look that rested," pulling a face to the camera. Ben said: "I have just got in and she is already giving me grief," as members of the crew laughed in the background.

Calling him out further, she said: "You were yawning through the meeting this morning," to which Ben laughed and replied: "It’s you." After asking what he had been up to, Ben revealed he had been busy filming the new series of his ITV show Tipping Point in Bristol.

Ranvir didn't hold back (ITV)

The comment came weeks after viewers thought the pair were having a secret 'feud'. But a spokesperson for GMB said previously said: "This is utter fantasy, Ben and Ranvir get on really well. Talking over each other occasionally reflects real life relationships and is part of the authentic cut and thrust of a passionately topical programme like Good Morning Britain."

But later, the tables turned on Ranvir as Richard Arnold ended up taking a swipe at the presenter. The entertainment editor was back on the programme to bring viewers the latest showbiz news.

They were also discussing the line-up for UNICEF's upcoming Soccer Aid as Richard was able to reveal the next celebrity taking part alongside other stars such as Liam Payne, Lucien Laviscount and Martin Compston who will be taking to the pitch for the charity match this summer.

The presenters were debating the colours of the team uniform with Richard saying: "To be honest, I'd never be seen in claret and turquoise. Who can pull that off?" as Ben clarified: "Claret and blue!"

Ranvir then chimed in: "I bet you like a little merlot, rather than a claret, don't you?" to which Richard replied: "I definitely like my reds," before Ranvir cut in: "I'm keen to know what accent Liam Payne will be using to captain his team because when he was on this show at the Oscars, he came out with all sorts of strange accents."

Richard then later swiped at Ranvir (ITV)

Richard replied: "My agent is currently looking at this going, 'I get 10 per cent of that?' which is not a lot." Ranvir added: "You should get more than ten per cent of air time, in my view," which is when the awkward moment occurred as Richard jokingly replied: "Bless you, Ranvir. Well if you stopped talking, I might do. Crash on."

There was then a ripple of laughter from the crew behind the cameras and after a brief pause, Ranvir simply replied: "Bye," leaving GMB viewers thinking she wasn't 'a happy bunny'.
