GMB fans thrilled as Mick Lynch 'embarrasses' Richard Madeley

Good Morning Britain's Richard Madeley was accused of "interviewing himself" during Tuesday's instalment of the morning programme.

Richard, joined by co-host Kate Garraway, was joined by RMT Union boss Mick Lynch amid another day of industrial action. Staff have walked out in an ongoing dispute over working conditions and rates of pay.

Asking Mr Lynch if he was "being disingenuous or if something had changed", Richard played a clip from a few weeks prior when the union boss had said RMT had purposely left the Christmas period strike-free.

Explaining the decision to strike from 6pm on Christmas Eve until 6am on December 27, Mr Lynch said: "Something has changed. Network Rail have told us no matter what happens they will impose work-life balance changes and cuts, so we had to respond to that".

He also said the additional strike action is actually targeted at engineering works during the "Christmas shutdown", rather than passenger service. Richard then put to him that the earlier strikes are impacting local businesses, as commercial Christmas starts at the beginning of December.

But as Mr Lynch tried to answer the question, the presenter continued to talk over him. Mr Lynch said: "Richard, you're just talking to yourself. You're ranting.

"Richard, you're ranting. Have you finished? If you give me a minute, I'll answer the question." Richard replied: "I won't let you get away with nonsense".

As he continued talking, Mr Lynch asked: "Richard, why don't you just interview yourself?"

Taking to Twitter, Kenny said: "Richard has a case of the rants", while Jenny said: "Richard let the man speak". Danny said: "Mick Lynch has already said that the Christmas strike primarily affects engineering works not passenger services."

Elizabeth said: "'Why don't you just interview yourself?' Mick Lynch embarrassing Richard Madeley on #GMB". Kath said: "Mick Lynch not standing for any bull. The strikes can be stopped any time a decent offer is made to the workers, not rocket science!"
