Rising Perth Glory star Daniel Bennie has landed a move to English Championship side Queens Park Rangers for an undisclosed fee.

Bennie announced himself as a future star before even making his A-League Men debut, when he scored a goal against Premier League outfit West Ham in a friendly in July 2023.

The midfielder, who only turned 18 in April, went on to have a successful debut season at Glory, notching 22 starts among his 25 appearances.

Bennie's emergence was a rare highlight for Glory during their wooden-spoon campaign.

Earlier this week, the Hong Kong-born teenager was named in the Young Socceroos squad for next month's tour of South America, which will take in matches against Uruguay and Chile.

"I would like to thank everyone at Perth Glory for making my first professional season so enjoyable," Bennie said in a statement on Thursday.

"To all the coaching staff and players, thank you all for the way you have treated me.

"I have come along in leaps and bounds learning from you all this season. And I'd also like to thank the fans for sticking with us all season."

QPR finished 18th out of 24 teams this season in England's second tier, posting 15 wins, 11 draws and 20 losses.

Bennie's departure continues a significant list overhaul at Glory, with Darryl Lachman, Mark Beevers, Aleksandar Susnjar, Bruce Kamau, Antonis Martis, Jayden Gorman and Jaylan Pearman all let go.

Stefan Colakovski and John Koutroumbis opted to pursue opportunities overseas, while Josh Rawlins returned to his parent club FC Utrecht at the end of his loan deal.

Salim Khelifi, who was loaned out to Melbourne Victory midway through last season, had his contract terminated by mutual consent.

Glory received a dose of good news this week when they secured the signature of Socceroos defender Josh Risdon on a two-year deal.

Former Glory skipper Brandon O'Neill, who has spent the past two seasons at the Newcastle Jets, is expected to return to Perth to play for his hometown club.
