Gloria Hunniford on 'celebrating her body at 82' in new Loose Women campaign

Northern Irish broadcaster Gloria Hunniford has shared how she is proud to be part of a new campaign 'celebrating her body at 82'.

The Loose Women favourite featured on Lorraine on Tuesday as she talked about fronting their newest 'Body Stories' campaign which is all about body confidence in all shapes and sizes.

Gloria will be sitting on the Loose Women panel on both Tuesday and Wednesday to mark International Women's Day as she shares her experience with her body.

Speaking to Lorraine, she said: "It's a wonderful idea because tomorrow is International Women's Day which is the hook for it."

"It's about inclusion really - from my point of view, I'm glad that my body is still functioning," she laughed.

Talking about her teenage years and her body after the birth of her first child, Gloria explained that body image "wasn't really an issue" to her at the time.

An exclusive Loose Women survey reveals six in 10 women still don’t think there is enough body diversity in the media and despite almost half (42%) believing representation has improved in the past five years, they agree there is still a long way to go.

Highlighting the importance of ‘Celebrating Every Body’, the new research finds that more than three quarters (78%) agreed it’s important to see relatable body types in the media - including older women, disabled women and those from different ethnic backgrounds. 65 per cent of those polled, respectively attribute this to normalising differences and encouraging acceptance.

"This is a great campaign and it is as much to do with the mind as anything else. It's how you deal with adversity because we all get things chucked at us in life and it's all about attitude.

"I am all about energy in my body to do the things I want to do," she explained.

As for working, the presenter said not to expect her to slow down anytime soon as she still thoroughly enjoys what she is doing, having been on our screens since the 1960s.

Despite revealing that she doesn't like the "landmark" birthdays, the 82-year-old tries not to dwell too much on age anymore - except the occasions when she is reminded.

You can catch Gloria on Loose Women on Tuesday, March 7 and Wednesday, March 8 at 12.30pm on ITV
