Los Angeles is beginning to plan its recovery efforts following the recent devastating wildfires, and the outpouring of support from around the world has been remarkable.
Mayor Karen Bass of LA expressed her gratitude for the global support, highlighting contributions from various countries. Sister city Busan in South Korea has pledged over $100,000 towards the recovery efforts, while Japan has also made a significant contribution to the Red Cross.
Corporate giants YouTube and Google have stepped up by donating $50 million to organizations providing immediate relief in LA. Additionally, the California Community Foundation’s Wildlife Recovery Fund has received more than $24 million in donations.
Mayor Bass noted that the community response has been overwhelming, with over 23,000 individuals contributing to Calfund.org to support the rebuilding efforts.
In her statement, Mayor Bass emphasized the resilience and unity of Angelinos, expressing confidence in the city's ability to rebuild and emerge stronger from this crisis.
