Glentoran boss Mick McDermott has revealed that an offer remains on the table to keep Robbie McDaid at The BetMcLean Oval.
McDaid, who is out of contract in the summer, has yet to sign an extension with the Big Two giants who lie second in the Danske Bank Premiership.
But McDermott insists he hasn’t given up hope that the 25-year-old, who joined the Glens in 2017, will commit his future to the club.
“It’s well documented that Robbie’s contract is up at the end of the season and we have the contract offer there for him to consider,” he said.
“If he decides to move on in the summer, that’s up to Robbie, but we want him to stay here as a Glentoran player.
“We have made that known to him and we’ve had positive discussions so far.
“It (the contract offer) is currently with him. There have been no negative comments from him and the decision lies with him.”
McDaid has scored 67 goals in 166 appearances for Glentoran - a goal every 2.5 games - since joining the club in August 2017 after leaving York City.
The talented forward has been constantly linked with a move to Linfield, although the player’s personal situation may dictate where he ends up.
It is understood he is weighing up his academic options, while it has been reported that his longtime girlfriend works and lives in England, meaning regular commutes.
Glentoran, who beat Cliftonville 2-1 live on Sky on Monday night, are back in action on Friday night when they face Crusaders at Seaview.
