Glentoran Football Club last night issued an apology to Crusaders following an alleged incident during a recent game at Seaview.
It had previously been reported that Glens assistant manager Paul Millar could face an investigation from the PSNI and local football authorities following an alleged assault on Crusaders coach Darren Murphy during the game on January 21.
It was also reported that Crusaders had threatened to impose a lifetime ban on Millar from Seaview if found guilty.
Glentoran issued a statement on Wednesday night stating that they regretted "any offence caused to Crusaders".
The statement read: "Glentoran Football Club always works to maintain healthy relationships with all NIFL clubs. We understand that at certain times relationships can be challenging and strained; that is normal due to the nature of the business we are in.
"The important thing is to move forward with respect for each other.
"Glentoran FC regret any offence caused to Crusaders FC during our recent game at Seaview.
"Glentoran FC, its staff, Directors and players wish to move forward harmoniously with all members of Crusaders FC.
"Our league is in an exciting place, with huge potential for the future. We must all commit to protecting the positive image of NIFL at all times."
In response, Crusaders also issued a statement on Wednesday night saying the club accepted the apology.
It read: “We acknowledge and accept the apology from Glentoran FC in relation to an incident involving our 1st Team Coach Darren Murphy on 21st January at Seaview.
"As part of the football family, we need to continue working together in the best interests of the game in Northern Ireland.”
