Glenn Hoddle picks Jurgen Klopp's 'surprise' best Liverpool signing

Glenn Hoddle has named who he thinks is Jurgen Klopp’s “best buy” at Liverpool.

The Reds claimed a 2-0 win over Leicester City in the Premier League on Thursday night.

Klopp opted not to start Mohamed Salah in the match, who only returned from Egypt duty at the Africa Cup of Nations two days earlier.

Luis Diaz was handed his first Premier League debut at Anfield, with Klopp having the Colombia international in his starting line-up.

Diogo Jota got both goals for Liverpool in the victory, with his first coming after a Kasper Schmeichel rebound from a corner met the Reds No.20 who finished with conviction.

His second goal came in the closing moments of the game, after he latched onto the ball in the box and fired his effort past the outstretched hand of Schmeichel.

Hoddle, who was on commentary for BT Sport, was analysing Jota’s goal when he made a claim about the Portuguese international.

“Again, it’s that predatory Jota,” said Hoddle. “He’s got his back to goal when he receives the ball and just swivels on it.

“It’s too firm for Schmeichel, it’s really great instinctive finishing. His instincts tell him where the posts are, where the goal is, doesn’t even look, he knows where he wants to put it.

“That is why he’s a starter for me. Probably [Klopp's] best buy I would say.

“He surprised everyone when he first came and how good he’s been. He’s come up trumps yet again.”
