An opportunity has opened up for a young person planning a career in the creative arts.
Glenkens Community and Arts Trust is looking for an intern for six months with the role focusing on the visual arts, live events and creative learning.
The post is open to someone aged 18 to 25 already living in the region or looking to move here. It has been made possible thanks to funding from the Galloway Glens Scheme and the Holywood Trust.
The Arts Trust executive manager Helen Keron said: “One of GCAT’s key projects is CatStrand Young Creatives which seeks to nurture young people’s creativity at all stages.
“We are particularly keen to provide concrete help to young people looking to enter the creative sector professionally and so we were delighted to gain Galloway Glens support for this paid internship.
“Along with our core Holywood Trust funding, this has allowed us to create a fantastic opportunity for a young person to join our team and contribute in a really significant way. We are looking forward to welcoming the successful candidate into our vibrant CatStrand Arts Centre in New Galloway and seeing what they can add to our arts programme.”
The Galloway Glens has been supporting a range of six-month internships in a bid to give people the chance to take their first career steps in the region.
Spokeswoman Jan Hogarth said: “This is an unmissable opportunity for a young creative, recent art school or performing arts graduate to work in an innovative rural arts centre delivering an experimental and high quality programme.
“If you love the landscape, contemporary practice, want to contribute to an already exciting programme and like working with kind nurturing people then this is the job for you.”
