Gleneagles Townhouse Edinburgh: Private membership price and what the benefits are

Gleneagles Townhouse, deemed recently as one of the most exciting hotel openings in the world, is almost ready to welcome in its first guests.

The brand new city centre hotel will feature 33 totally unique rooms, individual in size, orientation and ceiling height – with star suites overlooking St. Andrew Square.

The Townhouse, Gleneagles' first ever expansion outside of its Perthshire home in its 96-year history, will also boast a roof terrace bar, 'Lamplighters,' with views across the capital's iconic skyline, as well as an opulent all-day restaurant, The Spence, which will be headed by award-winning chef, Johnny Wright.

Earlier this week, we reported luxury travel magazine Conde Nast Traveller's list of the most exciting new hotel openings this year, featuring high-end accommodation from across the globe in cities such as London, New York, in Ibiza and on the Amalfi Coast.

Our fine city also made the cut, thanks to the upcoming arrival of the Gleneagles Townhouse.

And one of the highlights of the new hotel is set to be its private members club, which comes with exclusive 'wellness experiences'.

We've had a look to see how much membership costs, and to find out just what the benefits are.

What membership gets you?

As advertised in the their promotional brochure, the Gleneagles team say members will gain: "exclusive access to members’ only social spaces, gym and wellness studios, our calendar of events and experiences and hotel benefits."

Events include tutored wine tastings, art previews and the chance to join a new running club 'with jogs around the cobbled streets'.

There'll be the likes of Burns Supper and Hogmanay evenings too, as well as access to gatherings at the historic Gleneagles hotels in rural Perthshire.

Then there's also private members' spaces, including The Members' Lounge, 'possibly the best room in the Townhouse' and The Members' Snug, 'perfect for meetings and working into the evening'.

Meanwhile, those lucky enough to have a membership will also benefit from priority booking at the aforementioned restaurant, while getting exclusive member-only access to the beautiful-looking Lamplighters bar every Friday.

There's also a residents-only 'wellness space', which includes a state-of-the-art gym, body fit and holistic classes, a spin studio and even a cryotherapy chamber.

Furthermore, members can get a discount on overnight stays too, while those with membership can also bring up to three guests with them at any time - well worth keeping in with your well-paid pal.

But, according to the brochure, there's far more you'll get to enjoy from Gleneagles Townhouse if you want to sign up - you can see the full list of benefits here.

Summarising what the Townhouse has to offer its members, owners say: "Gleneagles Townhouse is set to become a lively residence where a vibrant and positive community will gather together to meet, celebrate, discover and explore."

How much does it cost?

Of course, for all of the above and more, it does come at a cost.

The annual price is £2,200 per person, with a one-off joining fee of £350.

If you're lucky enough to be 33 or under, it's £1,100, with a joining fee of £175.

To find out more, you can visit the Gleneagles Townhouse website here.

The hotel is located at 37-39 St Andrew's Square and is due to open this Spring.
