Glenavon snap up former Shelbourne and Athlone Town striker Sodiq Oguntola

Glenavon have confirmed the signing of striker Sodiq Oguntola from Bluebell United.

Oguntola, who has Nigerian citizenship, has also enjoyed spells with Athlone Town, Cabinteely and Shelbourne in the League of Ireland.

The 29-year-old is Gary Hamilton's second signing of the summer following the recent capture of Glentoran goalkeeper Rory Brown.

The Glenavon website said Oguntola came "highly recommended" by former Glenavon forward Tony Grant and ex-Ballymena United player Shane Dolan who managed Bluebell last season.

Gary Hamilton told Glenavon Media: “Sodiq comes with a good recommendation and he’ll provide a physical element to our attack which we have been lacking for a while."

Meanwhile, Glenavon have placed on record their thanks and best wishes to goalkeeper James Taylor who has joined Bangor.
