Glen Kamara notched just his second goal in 53 appearances for Finland on Monday evening as his country ran amok over San Marino in a 6-0 win.
However, Finnish boss Markku Kanerva says that whilst the goal will somewhat put him in the Rangers shop window as he looks to be out of Michael Beale's plans for the upcoming summer transfer window, he will have to do it against better opposition that Europe's worst side if he is to impress interested parties - especially given the signings of Kieran Dowell, Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin in recent months.
Finland's opponents haven't won a game for nineteen years, and even that came in a 1-0 win over fellow minnows Lietchenstein in a low-key friendly. But, regardless of who Finland were playing, Kamara will have been over the moon to score for his country again after a four year hiatus from finding the back of the net.
A neat one-two with Rasmus Schuller saw Kamara slipped in at the edge of the area, and his strike found its way past a hapless Elia Benedettini to make it 1-0, with the game eventually finishing in a 6-0 pasting.
But manager Kanerva says that through no fault of his own, Kamara needs to produce similar displays against higher quality is he is to develop as a player, saying: "For all the players, I hope that these possible transfers would be ones where the development of the player is ensured. From that point of view, it is important that the new team offers a role and club at the highest possible level.
"I don't know if San Marino is a big indicator of his skills for the agents, but yes, even this match showed his strength. I hope Glen finds a good company.
"It was gratifying to see him succeed today. Above all, the idea was that he would stay within the shape and give breaking passes or drift into scoring positions himself. It was a great finish."
