Glen Kamara Rangers transfer rumours addressed as Giovanni van Bronckhorst makes clear statement

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has addressed transfer rumours surrounding Glen Kamara as he stated his hopes that he will remain at Rangers for many years.

The Finland international has recently been linked to Turkish giants Galatasaray with an £8million fee reported to have 'been submitted'. The midfielder played a starring role as Rangers dumped West Ham at Ibrox last night as preparations for the new season get ramped up with Livingston in the league opener on the horizon.

The Dutchman is aware that plenty clubs across Europe will be keeping keen eyes on his squad with Calvin Bassey set to complete a mega money move to Ajax while Joe Aribo has left last season's Europa League finalists for a move to the English Premier League with Southampton. Kamara has been a stunning piece of business for the Ibrox men since his £50,000 arrival from Dundee back in January 2019 and is currently under contract until 2025.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Van Brockhorst said: "We have a squad who is very liked by many clubs in Europe

"You see Glen today playing really well.

"I'm really happy with Glen and hopefully he will stay a Rangers player for many years."

On Wales internationals Rabbi Matondo and Tom Lawrence - who both climbed off the bench and grabbed a goal and an assist each - he added: "I think they bring their qualities to the squad.

"We have a big squad and we have to give everyone minutes so some players came a bit later in pre-season, especially the new players.

"I'm happy they both had an impact on the game, Rabbi with his speed and Tom is a clever player which he showed is the case so many times for Derby.

"Today again, especially in the second-half when I thought we dominated the midfield with the pockets we could find and to speed up the game to create chances. The first 20 minutes was really good."

The Dutchman continued: "I think it's always good to have freshness, we lost players, some on loan, some we didn't extend contracts, it was very early to change those players with some coming in.

"There was fresh blood and energy, it's always good every season to have new faces. It'll be a long season but I'm happy with the squad we have now."
