Glen Johnson has claimed that Chelsea could sell Timo Werner and Christian Pulisic in the summer, and also believes it ‘wouldn't be a surprise’ if Thomas Tuchel was sacked.
The German enjoyed an incredible start to his tenure with the Blues, winning the Champions League as well as delivering a top four finish last season.
Tuchel was expected to carry on his fine work this term and challenge for the Premier League title, but their inconsistent form since December has seen them fall off pace.
Chelsea are 10 points behind league leaders Manchester City and are a point behind second placed Liverpool, both teams also have games in hand over Tuchel's side.
Whilst Johnson wouldn’t be shocked if the west London club were to dismiss Tuchel he warned it would be ‘madness’ to sack the 48-year-old.
"I’d like to think Tuchel will still be at the club next season, but it’s the hottest seat in world football," Johnson told BettingOdds.com.
"I don’t think it’d surprise anybody if he wasn’t at Chelsea but I think it would be absolute madness for them to sack him.
"I think what he’s done in such a short period of time, and I think they are improving, if they keep him another season I think they’d be doing the right thing.
"I can’t imagine someone will walk in and pick up from where he’s left off and improve them immediately. I think it would be a mistake if he was to come under pressure."
Johnson also claimed that Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele could be a good acquisition if the Blues were to sell Werner or Pulisic in the summer, both players have been linked with moves away from Stamford Bridge after fairly underwhelming spells with the club
He added: "I don’t think Chelsea need him [Dembele], but I think he could help.
"He’s obviously a great player.
"Christian Pulisic isn’t really happening at the moment. Timo Werner’s not really happening at the moment.
"So if you’ve got a player who can come in and push them all for places and maybe they could trade one the other way, I reckon Chelsea would be interested in Dembele."
