Glen Hoddle reveals his Jesse Marsch concern for Leeds United

Glen Hoddle has shared his concern over Leeds United's situation after a comment made by Jesse Marsch following his first game as manager of the club last weekend.

Leeds had lost 1-0 to Leicester City after a performance where they had looked much the better team, only to fail to score any of their chances and Harvey Barnes take Leicester's first opportunity of note.

And Hoddle believes Marsch's belief that performances are more important than points, given Leeds' precarious situation in the Premier League relegation battle, is a cause for concern.

"I was a bit baffled when he came out and said the performance was more important than the points," Hoddle said on the All To Play For podcast.

"I’m not sure he’s aware of where they’re at," continued the former England manager.

However, Hoddle stated that he'd been sure that Leeds would go down if they continued playing Marcelo Bielsa's man-marking system.

He added: "I said if they keep playing the man for man they’re in trouble, they’re going to go down.

"The players knew in their hearts they couldn’t keep playing like this and now they’ve got to listen to the new manager and it might just be enough for them."

Pressed on whether he thought Leeds would now stay up under Marsch, Hoddle said that the relegation battle would come down to the wire and that the Whites would likely be involved in it up until the final day of the Premier League season, where they travel to Brentford.

"I think Leeds could be in a situation where they go to the last game of the season and they have to get a result. Leeds are well and truly in this."
