Chelsea and Tottenham have been put on high transfer alert by shared defensive target Gleison Bremer.
The Brazilian has been strongly linked with both London clubs this summer after a fantastic 2021/22 season with Torino in which he claimed Serie A Defender of the Year honours.
Bremer joined the likes of Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni and Villarreal’s Pau Torres on Tottenham’s list of potential centre-back recruits as they look to find a new long-term partner for last summer’s successful signing, Cristian Romero.
Antonio Conte has already recruited Yves Bissouma, Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster in the current window so far, but still wants a new centre-back, right wing-back and striker before the September 1 deadline.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are in desperate need of new defensive arrivals with Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen leaving on free transfers and doubts also continuing to surround the respective futures of long-serving captain Cesar Azpilicueta and compatriot Marcos Alonso.
Recent reports from Italy claimed that the Blues had submitted a proposal for Bremer, who is believed to be valued by Torino - where he remains under contract for another two years - at approximately £34million.
Their pursuit of long-term target Jules Kounde has become less certain after the French international underwent groin surgery amid late interest in a deal from Barcelona, with Chelsea also linked with Inter’s Milan Skriniar.
Inter have also been mentioned heavily in connection with a swoop for Bremer, who has now admitted that his departure from Turin is inevitable as he weighs up offers from unnamed suitors.
“It’s just a matter of time and then I’m going to leave Torino,” he told ESPN. “I’m considering some proposals, we’ll see.”
