Glee's Lea Michele addresses rumours she can't read with funny TikTok video

Glee actress Lea Michele addressed rumours she can't read with a hilarious TikTok video.

The actress, who stars in Funny Girl as Fanny Brice, has been plagued with rumours that she doesn't know how to read for years.

After many years of social media jokes, the star took to her TikTok account on Sunday to make a joke about the long-running rumour.

She filmed herself pretending to be on the phone, using a soundbite from The Kardashians.

"Hi," she lipsynced before someone asked: "How is it?"

"It’s amazing but wait, can you talk for a sec?", she responded.

As a caption, she wrote: "Calling Jonathan [Groff] to read me the comments on my first TikTok."

Fans loved her sense of humour and took to the comment section to laugh about the entire bizarre situation.

"I CANT WITH YOU ANYMORE," one user said while another added: "THIS WAS NOT ON MY 2022 BINGO CARD."

Another said: "Lea I'm screaming," while one amused fan wrote: "She's aware."

One user even called her a 'funny girl', referencing her theatre role.

Fans have been making allegations of illiteracy for years now, and the actress has been forced to bat it away over the years.

Lea let her feelings known about the fan theory back in 2018, saying it’s "the most bizarre thing that has ever happened in my life".

It all started in July 2017, after a 40-minute video was uploaded to Facebook Live that listed the supposed evidence against her.

The two claimed that because Lea had been working on Broadway from such a young age, she never had time to learn to read or write due to her acting commitments.

They also claim that Lea’s Glee and Scream Queens writer and director Ryan Murphy fed her all her lines, since if she were illiterate, she wouldn’t be able to read the scripts.

There is also anecdotal evidence they list, such as her signing her name with an illegible scribble or using emojis in her Instagram captions.

In a now-deleted tweet, Leah responded when a fan linked her in the video, with the actress replying: “Loved READING this tweet and wanted to WRITE you back? literally laughing out loud at all this? love you!!!?”
