Foo Fighters lead singer Dave Grohl beat the misery of the current airports crisis to finally make it on stage with Sir Paul McCartney at Glastonbury on Saturday evening.
The American frontman joined Sir Paul, the oldest solo artist to ever headline at the festival, in a headline set that thrilled the crowd.
Introducing the singer, he said: "I’ve got a little surprise for you. My friend from the west coast of America, Dave Grohl."
After Sir Paul revealed that Dave had flown in especially for the set, the Foo Fighters hitmaker said: "Well I started on Wednesday, then the flight got cancelled, back to the airport Thursday and then the flight got cancelled, but I swear I would never miss being on stage with you right now.”
The duo went on to perform a medley of songs, including Band On The Run.
Once they finished performing together, Sir Paul said: "Love you Dave thank you man we all love ya. Ladies and gentlemen one more time – Dave Grohl."
As if that weren't enough, he went on to introduce another surprise guest - Bruce Springsteen.
Walking on stage, Bruce told him: "Happy birthday Paul, here’s to 80 more years."
Following their set together, Bruce thanked Sir Paul for inviting him to perform.
“You’re kidding, thank you for coming," Sir Paul said. “These two guys flew in especially for this tonight.”
Bruce added: "Couldn’t miss it man."
It comes after Sir Paul was forced to temporarily halt his gig to check on an audience member. He paused his tribute to Jimmy Hendricks to make sure that a festival goer was OK.
A source told the Mirror: "The crowd were going wild for Paul as soon as he stepped on stage.
"He was in the middle of his tribute to Jimi Hendrix when he stopped to check on someone in the crowd."
