Glastonbury fans disappointed as Calvin Harris’ set is hit by sound issues

Glastonbury Festival goers were left disappointed as some struggled to hear Calvin Harris ’ DJ set on Sunday morning.

The DJ superstar, 38, spun the decks at the Somerset-based festivals’s iconic Arcadia stage, with his set kick-starting at 1am on Sunday morning – shortly after Paul McCartney ’s impressive Pyramid stage headline performance.

However, the size of the crowds and the placement of the inward-facing speakers meant those at the edge were left wanting the volume turned up.

Videos show the singing in the crowd could, at some points, be heard louder than the music itself. Meanwhile, one clip sees the sound abruptly increasing – causing some to move on to other attractions around the site.

One festival goer told the Mirror : “I could hear the music from the nearby pizza van better than Calvin!”

But, another crowd member who was closer to the action, said: “I could hear perfectly, it was sick!”

Fans on Twitter were divided by the performance, too.

One wrote: “as good as Arcadia looks aesthetically , can’t help but feel dissapointed. No real life to it & soundwise not great, gutter as was excited for fourtet and Calvin Harris- would have been considerably better on a real stage.”

Another added: “Calvin Harris tonight was awful. Sound system could have been better but the fact he didn’t once try to engage the crowd killed the whole set… can’t blame Arcadia for that s**t.”

“I love seeing Calvin Harris but tonight at glastonbury Arcadia was not it, sound was so low, the mixing into songs wasn’t that great either…so gutted,” a third added.

A fourth wrote: “think that might be Calvin playing Arcadia through his JBL speaker, or maybe I suddenly need hearing aids.”

Mirror has contacted Calvin’s representatives for comment.

It comes hours after the DJ was spotted with his rumoured fiancée Vick Hope.

The pair were seen coming out of the VIP area into the Other stage crowd at around 8.45pm.

Calvin, Vick, 32, and their entourage hid in plain sight made their way through the edge of the crowd towards the Arcadia stage ahead of his set.

The couple are said to have got engaged in May, just one month into their whirlwind romance.

DJ Calvin is said to have popped the question under his favourite tree at his Ibiza farm.
