Glastonbury crowd 'scared' as fan collapses during Lizzo's triumphant set

Glastonbury Festival suffered a 'scary' hiccup as a fan collapsed while Lizzo was performing her set on the Pyramid Stage.

She took to the stage after Lewis Capaldi and before the night's headline act, Guns N' Roses.

During her performance, a man collapsed to the floor and his friends rushed to check on him.

Speaking to Mirror, one festival-goer recalled: "It was scary. I was watching Lizzo when suddenly I heard a loud thud and when I turned to my right a man was on the floor with his friends surrounding him.

"He appeared unconscious and his friend was looking for a pulse on his neck. Everyone in the crowd was shouting to the stewards for help.

"Moments later the man opened his eyes and appeared okay but stayed on the floor for the rest of Lizzo’s set."

The festivalgoer added that a couple of stewards showed up to check on the man and they "seemed happy he was okay".

At the beginning of Lizzo's performance, she told fans how she was "so moved" to be able to perform on the main stage.

She first played at the iconic festival in 2018. "I'm just so overwhelmed," she said.

"Last time I played this festival was 2019, and I was like ‘man, I’m doing big s**t, because the first time I played this festival was 2018 – in one of those big tents.

"Nobody was in there. But me and my DJ… we kept playing, and we played our hearts out, and now I stand before you and I’m so moved."

The star changed her outfit multiple times and gave an incredible performance as the audience sang along to her hit songs.

Lizzo even struck up a soulful rendition of Jerome before collapsing to the floor as she finished.

"I want everyone now to say I’m special, look at your neighbour and say you’re special. In case nobody told you today Glastonbury, you’re special," she said, before moving on to sing her single Special.

The icon also performed About Damn Time, Coldplay and Truth Hurts.

Fans watching at home on the BBC took to social media to muse how Lizzo should have been headlining the British festival this weekend.

"Lizzo!!!!!! Lizzoooooo!!!!! She should be headlining tonight instead of those stinky fellas sorry," one Twitter user declared as Lizzo performed on stage.

"looool whoever said lizzo isnt headline quality, or size needs to get their out of the clouds, that was phenomenal, with a huge crowd. thats how you do it," another added, as third quipped: "One thing is clear - Lizzo can easily headline the pyramid stage, bigger crowd than Arctic Monkeys."

Another fan of the singer tweeted: "The legend @lizzo was basically my headline act today and she f***ing smashed it. Yas queen
